Parents need to teach kids how to interact with officers
Another recent shooting of a young teenager by a police officer should be a wake up call to all parents. Whether or not the shooting was justified is still under investigation. But this boy's life and the lives of others could have been saved if parents had taught them how to interact with police. If confronted by police officers, kids should be taught to do as they say, to never run away, to drop anything that could be mistaken for a weapon, and above all to never point anything, especially a weapon, whether real or a toy, at the police.
Parents have the responsibility to keep kids safe, and part of that is teaching them how to interact with law enforcement.
