Police: Woman’s death under investigation; suspect in custody

The Elgin Police Department is investigating the death of a woman and have a suspect in custody, officials said.

Officers responded to a report of an injured woman just before noon Tuesday, according to department Facebook post. The woman was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead, the release said.

Her identity is being withheld until identification is confirmed by the Kane County Coroner’s Office.

Detectives from the Elgin Police Department’s Major Investigations Division are investigating what happened, and they believe it was a domestic incident; a male suspect, who police didn’t identify, is in custody, the release stated.
