Thermal imaging camera used to pinpoint, stop attic fire in Bartlett

Bartlett firefighters used thermal imaging cameras and a portable extinguisher to expose a smoldering attic fire and prevent it from spreading through a home Wednesday morning.

No one was injured, and the house in the 800 block of Shorewood Drive in Bartlett is habitable, officials said.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation Wednesday, and the monetary cost of damage had not yet been estimated.

The Bartlett Fire District was called to the home at 9:27 a.m. for a report of a fire and found smoke in the attic when crews arrived three minutes later. The fire was declared under control at 9:45 a.m.

A total of 17 firefighters responded to the call, including from Hanover Park, Streamwood and Fox River Countryside, through a mutual-aid agreement.
