Geneva power interruptions due to problems with ComEd lines, city says

Problems with momentary power outages in Geneva the last few weeks have stemmed from issues related to ComEd power lines, the city said Tuesday.

Geneva has its own electric utility, but ComEd power lines feed the city’s substations, allowing it to receive energy purchased from a regional service transmission provider.

The city said recent disruptions on the west side of town were caused by fallen tree branches knocking down lines and an animal found in a substation. City officials are working with ComEd to pinpoint the causes and trim or remove tree branches.
