Public meeting June 26 on road improvements near Lake Zurich, Hawthorn Woods

The Lake County Division of Transportation will hold a public information meeting from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. June 26, to discuss the preferred alternative design and a summary of feedback related to the Old McHenry Crossings Project Study.

The meeting will take place at St. Matthew Lutheran Church Gymnasium, 24500 N. Old McHenry Road, Hawthorn Woods.

The study aims to improve safety, traffic operations, and connectivity for drivers, bikers, and pedestrians within and surrounding the Old McHenry Road and CN Railroad area and along Quentin Road in Hawthorn Woods, Lake Zurich, Kildeer and unincorporated Forest Lake.

Approximately 25,000 vehicles pass through the corridor each day and nearly 370 crashes have occurred in this area over the last five years, officials said. For more about the project, visit youtube.com/watch?v=aPXMlIgwY4s.
