Mundelein-area man arrested after threatening neighbors, police say
A Mundelein-area man was arrested Tuesday morning after reportedly threatening neighbors with a knife, authorities said.
Luis Maganda-Chino, 40, of the 26200 block of North Route 83, is charged with aggravated assault, disorderly conduct, and resisting a peace officer. He also was wanted on a warrant for violating an order of protection.
Lake County sheriff’s deputies went to Maganda-Chino’s neighborhood shortly before 10 a.m. after receiving a call about a man who was shouting and stabbing the door of a home, according to a news release.
As deputies arrived, Maganda-Chino went into his own home, officials said. Deputies and Mundelein police officers spoke with Maganda-Chino for more than an hour until he went outside and surrendered, the release said.
Deputies took several knives, too.
Maganda-Chino, who sheriff’s officials said has a history of erratic behavior, was being held at the Lake County jail pending a court appearance.
