A loss in Elgin

I read today the obituary of Elgin’s friend Tom Rakow, and I am once again reminded of how fortunate Elgin has been in the past with the significant presence of exemplary leadership.

Elgin has been blessed over the many years by men and women who prospered here and have graciously and generously given of their time, their talents, their influence, their leadership and their resources to make this community a better place to live and raise a family. Tom Rakow has been one of these individuals.

He has been a significant person in this legacy of community dedication, leadership and generosity. I think I can speak for many in saying that Tom made a real difference in the growth and direction of Elgin, and we are grateful.

So, to Tom’s wonderful family we offer our heartfelt condolences, and to Tom, we say, “Thank you, Tom,” for a life well lived.
