Road closures ahead in downtown Arlington Heights

Lane closures at Northwest Highway and Evergreen Avenue in Arlington Heights are expected to begin Wednesday, in advance of a construction project starting next week.

The work involves installation of public water main and sanitary sewer to buildings located at 12-14 and 16-20 East Northwest Highway, according to the village. The new infrastructure will replace existing private systems that serve those properties.

Construction is expected to take approximately 4 to 6 weeks. During the work, closures and detours will include: Evergreen Avenue north of Northwest Highway will be closed; The eastbound left turn lane from Northwest Highway onto Evergreen Avenue will be closed; The westbound left turns from Northwest Highway onto Evergreen and Dunton avenues will be detoured to Vail Avenue.

Westbound Northwest Highway will maintain 2 lanes within the construction zone. Drivers should expect delays within the construction zone, and are asked to follow the detour or seek alternate routes.
