No one hurt in Elgin house fire Sunday

Nobody was hurt during a Sunday house fire on the 600 block of Bent Street in Elgin.

Elgin firefighters responded to a call at approximately 4:20 p.m. Sunday to find smoke and fire coming from the back of a single-family home. The fire was brought under control in about 10 minutes.

The occupants weren’t home when the fire started.

The Elgin Fire Department Fire Investigation Team said preliminary information suggests the fire may have been accidental, and damage is estimated at $80,000.

The home is currently uninhabitable due to the damage.
