Pottawatomie Garden Club plants flowers in downtown St. Charles

Each spring the Pottawatomie Garden Club gathers in downtown St. Charles to plant summer flowers along the bridges crossing the Fox River and around the municipal building.

This year on May 22, the garden club planted an array of beautiful annuals to be enjoyed by anyone passing through downtown.

It is one of the many projects that the garden club does to contribute to the beautification of the St. Charles.

The garden club also awards scholarships for students from the St. Charles Unit District 303, plants memorial trees for its members, and maintains natural areas along the Fox River. Every other year, it hosts a garden walk, as well as the popular Garden Gate Boutique and Plant Sale.

The club meets on the fourth Monday of the month, from March though October.

The next general monthly meeting will be at 7 p.m. June 24 at St. Charles Public Library, 1 S. Sixth Ave. The program will be "Don't Squash the Bugs!“ with James Rowan.
