Naperville begins annual mosquito control program

The city of Naperville has started its annual mosquito control program.

Crews will inspect and remove standing water where possible and treat ponds, marsh areas and catch basins throughout the city. They also will monitor and test 11 mosquito traps each week to track the effectiveness of larval control and to provide early warnings when adult populations are increasing or test positive for West Nile virus.

If necessary, the city will spray for mosquitoes.

Residents are encouraged to remove stagnant water from bird paths, ponds, wading pools or other areas where mosquitoes may breed.
