Marengo woman in stable condition after two-vehicle crash involving dump truck

A 29-year-old Marengo woman is stable after suffering injuries when her vehicle was hit by a dump truck Thursday morning on Illinois Route 176 at Union Road in an unincorporated area near Union, according to the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office.

Officials said an International Dump Truck traveling north on Union Road failed to stop at a stop sign and struck the driver’s side of the Marengo woman’s Dodge, which was traveling west on Route 176, where there are no traffic controls, officials said.

The driver of the dump truck, a 41-year-old Mundelein man, appeared to be uninjured and declined medical treatment, according to officials.

Officials said both drivers were wearing seat belts and that alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash.

The sheriff’s office is investigating.
