Round Lake Beach police seek reaccreditation

A team from the Illinois Law Enforcement Accreditation Program is visiting Round Lake Beach beginning Thursday to begin the police department’s four-year assessment required for accreditation.

Accreditation is the ongoing process whereby the department evaluates its policies and procedures against established ILEAP standards. The standards are divided into four general subject areas: administration, operations, personnel and training.

The department first obtained its ILEAP accreditation in 2012 and received reaccreditation in 2016 and again in 2020.

As part of the on-site assessment, members of the community are invited to offer comments to the assessment team by calling (847) 740-6022 between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. May 23 Comments are limited to 10 minutes and must address the agency’s ability to comply with the ILEAP standards.
