Denying climate change doesn’t stop it
Is every endeavor for a better life foolish? More children are victims of childhood asthma and cancer. Global warming deniers may enjoy a walk down the beach amid 10-plus rotting dead whales washed up on shore, or even think it is pleasant on a 90-degree day to stroll through six tons of dead fish, manatees and other sea life laying on a Florida beach. Baleen whales, penguins and other sea life depend on krill. The largest mammal on earth, the blue whale, depends on some of the smallest things — krill.
Krill’s life cycle depends on Antarctic Sea ice. Record amounts of Ice pack is melting because of warming oceans.
Negative opinions about global warming have existed since even 1961, when I wrote a report as a high school freshman. At that time and for many years, we led the way in carbon output.
One opinion stated that anything the U.S. did, amounted to a waste of time, because China was negating anything the U.S. did. China’s EV research and development, earned the highest “Roland Berger's index score” in 2021. China, by far, has the biggest EV industry.
Information provided in the Daily Herald’s April 20 Business Section follows: Wind Power Installations in 2023: China 65%, U.S. 5%, Brazil 4%, Germany 3%, Netherlands 2%, Sweden 2%, Canada 2%, Rest of the world 14%.
China is leading the world and possibly are leading the way to a sustainable future. climate Legislation gets bogged down, with years of (mostly Republican) deniers. Interesting, that in my 63 years following climate science, I have not met one Democrat denier — I am sure there are some? You can deny climate change, but it is still happening.
