Fremont Students Raise Funds for American Heart Association

Fremont Elementary and Intermediate Schools continued their long-standing tradition of benefitting the American Heart Association by participating in the annual Kids Heart Challenge. Fremont students and their families came together to raise $34,143, while supporting both mental and physical well-being for students, families and staff.

Students at Fremont Elementary School (K-2) raised 15,201, while Fremont Intermediate School students (grades 3-5) raised $18,942.

The support and participation in the Kids Heart Challenge make a tremendous impact in helping millions of Americans through increased awareness of cardiovascular disease, lifesaving scientific research, and critically needed education efforts. Students learn how to maintain a healthy lifestyle through exercise and a proper diet, as well as mental well-being and life skills.

Formerly known as Jump Rope for Heart, the Kids Heart Challenge involves students participating in a variety of jump-roping activities, either individually or in groups, during physical education classes to take care of their hearts and brains, while practicing kindness, gratitude and learning ways to de-stress.

“Each year we are amazed by the support that our Fremont students and families show to benefiting a great cause like the American Heart Association,” Fremont Intermediate School physical education teacher Corey Sciutto said. “The Kids Heart Challenge is a terrific way for them to learn about the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle for the benefit of both their bodies and their minds.”
