Founding Father portrayal will highlight U.S. Constitution
The Daughters of the American Revolution, Signal Hill Chapter, in collaboration with the Barrington Area Library, will host a program featuring a portrayal of Founding Father and fourth President James Madison on Sunday, June 9, beginning at 2 p.m. The program was selected as one of a series of initiatives that will celebrate America’s 250th anniversary over the next two years.
Accomplished author, actor and historian Terry Lynch will provide a dynamic first-person perspective on James Madison, considered the father of the U.S. Constitution. Small in stature, but big in determination, Madison co-authored the Federalist Papers, which were instrumental in explaining the need for a strong central government, and to promote the U.S. Constitution as the best model for that government. As a two term President, Madison is best known for reluctantly declaring war on Britain in 1812. He was also Dolly’s husband.
Terry Lynch has been a professional actor performing on stage, TV, film and radio in the Chicago area for more than 40 years. He has also appeared regularly on the WGN Morning Show. He and his wife Laura, a certified educator, began Histories for Kids/HFK Presents more than 20 years ago to bring history to life for all ages.
The program is appropriate for both teens and adults and is free to the public. Registration is required at balibrary.org.
The Barrington Area Library is at 505 N. Northwest Highway, in Barrington.
