DAISY Award winner announced
Daniela Lazar, LPN, of Center of Illinois Home Healthcare, Inc., was recently honored with the DAISY Award For Extraordinary Nurses. The award is part of the Arlington Heights-based DAISY Foundation's programs to recognize the superhuman efforts that nurses perform every day.
The submitted nomination read: “Daniela, has been with the Center of Illinois family since 2019. She is a skilled and compassionate nurse, an outstanding employee, and one whose patients often praise her and her care. She often goes above and beyond for her patients and their families. We always get positive feedback on her kindness, patience, and meticulous care.”
A few of the comments from patients:
“My Nurse Daniella was excellent I would recommend her highly.”
“My Nurse Daniella is wonderful, so caring and gentle doing my wound care.”
These are just a couple of the many of the comments we get about our amazing Daniella. Congratulations.
The not-for-profit DAISY Foundation was established by family members in memory of J. Patrick Barnes. Patrick died at the age of 33, in late 1999, from complications of Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP), a little known but not uncommon autoimmune disease. The care Patrick and his family received from nurses while he was ill inspired this unique means of thanking nurses for making a profound difference in the lives of their patients and patient families.
Said Bonnie Barnes, FAAN, Doctor of Humane Letters (h.c.) and co-founder of The DAISY Foundation, “When Patrick was critically ill, our family experienced firsthand the remarkable skill and care nurses provide patients every day and night. Yet these unsung heroes are seldom recognized for the superhuman work they do. The kind of work the nurses at Center of Illinois Home Healthcare are called on to do every day epitomizes the purpose of The DAISY Award.”
The Director of Clinical Services, Louisa Wolter RN BSN MSHA WSOC, said “Daniela is the nurse that we all want to take care of our family when they need care. She is not only highly skilled, she is compassionate, and listens when patients just need to talk.”
