Wheeling man facing drug, weapons charges
A Wheeling man is facing multiple drug and weapons charges following a multijurisdictional narcotics investigation.
Andy Bardesi Mozo, 24, is charged with multiple felonies, including armed violence, unlawful use of a weapon and several counts of possession with the intent to deliver narcotics and cannabis, following his arrest Friday near his home on the 0-100 block of Buckboard Drive, authorities said.
At about 9:15 a.m. Friday, officers served a search warrant at the house and attempted to speak with Mozo prior to entering the residence, according to a news release issued Monday.
Mozo attempted to flee on foot while carrying a backpack, but was nabbed by authorities a short distance later, the report said.
Police said the backpack contained narcotics and a semiautomatic handgun with a switch to turn it fully automatic.
While executing the search warrant, officers said they located a large amount of amphetamines, cannabis, psilocybin mushrooms, cocaine and Xanax. A large amount of U.S. currency was also recovered.
Mozo’s detention status is unknown.
