Gurnee-area tobacco shop hit with two-week license suspension
A Lake County tobacco and e-cigarette store that faced multiple complaints about selling its products to minors had its license suspended for two weeks, authorities said Tuesday.
Moshi’s Tobacco & Vape, at 34491 N. Old Walnut Circle near Gurnee, failed a compliance check conducted in January 2024 by Lake County sheriff’s detectives, officials said.
When detectives spoke to the clerk responsible, the clerk lied about her identity, and provided detectives with a false name and birth date, according to sheriff’s police.
The Lake County Health Department heard sworn testimony regarding the unlawful selling of tobacco at a hearing on March 13. After the hearing, the health officer suspended Moshi’s tobacco license from April 25 through May 8.
Anyone with knowledge regarding this or any other business selling tobacco to minors is encouraged to contact their local police department, officials said.
