Worker suffers minor injury after chemical reaction at Gurnee warehouse
A worker at a cleaning products warehouse in Gurnee suffered minor injuries when waste materials were combined and caused a hazardous chemical reaction early Thursday morning, fire officials said.
Gurnee firefighters responded to the hazardous materials call just after midnight at the warehouse and office on the 700 block of Tri-State Parkway.
Crews secured a 300-gallon container and set up dams and absorbent pads to ensure any potential leak wouldn’t spread. The warehouse was cordoned off until a cleanup crew arrived to neutralize the container.
The injured worker complained of throat pain, but was treated at the scene and released, fire officials said.
