Terlato Kitchen launches spicy giardiniera pasta sauce to celebrate National Foodies Day

Chicago-based Terlato Kitchen has launched a new Spicy Giardiniera Pasta Sauce in celebration of National Foodies Day on May 9.

This distinctive, spicy sauce combines the unique flavor of Chicago staple giardiniera — a marinated blend of hot peppers, celery, carrots and cauliflower — with Italian-sourced tomatoes and an assortment of spices.

The Terlato Family has been deeply rooted in the fine wine business and winery ownership for more than 75 years. This passion has translated to the foods they served at their table — inspiring their one-of-a-kind pasta sauces. Each Terlato Kitchen product is made with carefully curated, high-quality ingredients to create authentic, complex, healthy and delicious flavor profiles, according to a news release.

“Growing up in Chicago, renowned as a ‘foodie city’ for its love of authentic, one-of-a-kind and delicious dishes, my family was of course influenced by the incredible and distinct flavors that define the city, like giardiniera,” said John Terlato, founder of Terlato Kitchen and co-owner of Terlato Wine Group. “Our Spicy Giardiniera Pasta Sauce pays homage to Chicago’s rich culinary diversity, providing not just a taste but a true Chicago flavor experience. ... It’s difficult to describe the unparalleled alchemy and deliciousness of it. To understand it, you have to try it.”

The sauce is available at terlatokitchen.com. Terlato Kitchen pasta sauces, including Pomodoro, Vodka, Arrabbiata Sauce and Tomato Basil, are available at local Meijer, Mariano’s, Jewel, Sunset, Woodman’s and other retail stores.
