Grainger employees and YCC students built 20 picnic tables and 20 benches that were donated to local nonprofit organizations such as the Boys & Girls Club, Community Works, College of Lake County Urban Farm, Staben Center, and local food pantries.

Following this, on April 26, YCC joined forces with participants from Grainger, Gewalt Hamilton, and Grand Appliance for a Waukegan Park District cleanup day. Volunteers worked together to clean up and beautify local parks, further enhancing the community's appreciation of outdoor spaces.

“Grainger is proud to partner with the Youth Conservation Corps for Earth Month volunteer days," said Tom Richey, senior manager, community impact at Grainger. "These events not only benefit our local communities but also provide hands-on learning experiences for the youth involved. Together, we can make a meaningful impact on the environment and create lasting connections within our community.”

For 50 years, the Youth Conservation Corps has been dedicated to serving the youth of Lake County. YCC provides opportunities for young people to learn and earn credentials in high-demand career pathways while offering essential supportive services to enable participants to thrive. Through its annual Earth Month partnership volunteer days and other initiatives, YCC continues to empower young individuals to become active contributors to their communities and the environment.
