Waubonsee Community College student killed in crash

A Waubonsee Community College student was killed Tuesday morning at an entrance to the college’s Sugar Grove campus.

The victim was an 18-year-old Maple Park resident, according to the college and Sugar Grove police.

The police have not released the name or sex of the person, who was the only one in Chevy Trax. It was hit by a semitrailer.

According to police, the Trax was southbound on Route 47 and turned left onto Waubonsee Drive, which is the southernmost entrance. The truck was driving north.

The driver of the truck, a 42-year-old person from Pennsylvania, sustained non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.
