Man charged with attempted murder, domestic battery in Elgin shooting

A man has been charged with attempted murder for a shooting that happened early Sunday morning in Elgin.

Edward Perez, 35, of the 600 block of Dover Drive, Elgin, is also charged with domestic battery and aggravated battery with a firearm, according to Elgin police.

Elgin police responded at about 12:10 a.m. Sunday to reports of a shooting inside a home on the 600 block of Dover Drive. When the officers arrived, they located a male victim who was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

Police did not release details about the condition of the victim.

A Cook County judge on Tuesday ordered Perez to be detained pretrial. His next court date is Thursday.
