Understand sovereignty of embassies

I listened to the Republican chairman of the House Intelligence Committee Turner babble about his position on the recent Iran/Israel exchange of hostilities. He continually described Israel as the victim.

In his position as chairman, he really displays a conveniently ignorant knowledge of diplomatic facts.

Diplomatically, all embassies are the sovereign territory of the country that operates them. So, for instance, the U.S. Embassy in Moscow is not the territory of Russia, it belongs to the United States. Thus, when Israel (no matter what their reason) attacked the Iranian Embassy in Syria they, in legal terms directly attacked Iran. Given those facts, what thinking, rational human being would not expect Iran to not attack Israel directly?

This situation has nothing to do with who is right and who is wrong; it is simply to point out that the supposedly intelligent head of the House Intelligence Committee should not get on television and present himself as an ignoramus. There are numerous impressionable people listening to him that need to be told the truth, not a partisan variation of the truth.
