Three hurt, dog dies in Bartlett condo fire
Three people suffered minor injuries and a dog died of smoke inhal
ation from a fire at an eight-unit condominium complex in Bartlett Tuesday morning.
Firefighters were called to the complex on the 600 block of Thorntree Court just before 11:30 a.m. for a report of heavy smoke on the first floor of the building.
The fire was contained to one unit, which was left uninhabitable by the blaze. However, one person suffered injuries that weren’t considered life threatening and transported to a hospital. Two others were treated at the scene and released.
A dog was found unresponsive and succumbed to smoke inhalation despite attempts to resuscitate it, fire officials said.
Fire officials said two residents of the unit that caught fire were sleeping at the time and were awakened by activated smoke detectors, allowing them to escape to safety.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
