Hey Nonny welcomes Japanese Guitarist Hiroya Tsukamoto

Japanese guitarist Hiroya Tsukamoto takes the stage at Hey Nonny at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, May 3. The Arlington Heights music venue and bistro is hosting the world-renowned artist for a one-night-only event.

Hiroya Tsukamoto is a Japanese-born fingerstyle guitarist who moved to the United States in 2000 to attend the Berklee College of Music. Tsukamoto has been recognized for his talents on stages such as at Blue Note in New York City, Japanese National Television, and United Nations. He also took second place at the International Fingerstyle Guitar Championship both in 2018 and 2022.

“Hiroya Tsukamoto isn’t your standard fingerpicker,” said Hey Nonny co-owner Chip Brooks. “His style is more delicate, soulful, and eclectic, which is what makes this show so special. It’s a unique performance from a one-of-a-kind artist.”

The upcoming show at Hey Nonny will combine instrumental guitar work with lyrical performances and spoken stories from Tsukamoto’s life. He embodies the notion that music has no language and is known for immersive and mesmerizing performances.
