Styrofoam recycling event in Gurnee

The village of Gurnee is hosting a Styrofoam recycling event from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at its public works facility, 1151 Kilbourne Road.

Styrofoam does not biodegrade and can’t be recycled in standard recycling streams. Only clean, dry and #6 labeled polystyrene products will be accepted. Packing peanuts will not be accepted.

Anyone unable to attend can drop off Styrofoam at public works from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday.

Unable to make either day? The city of Highland Park’s recycling center, 1180 Half Day Road, offers free Styrofoam recycling to all Lake County residents every Tuesday and the first Saturday of the month.
