Gifford Park Association mobilizing community for April 20 Neighborhood Spring Cleanup Event

The Gifford Park Association will host its Neighborhood Spring Cleanup event on Saturday, April 20, starting at 9:30 a.m.

This family friendly initiative aims to bring together residents, volunteers, and local businesses in a collective effort to beautify our community and foster a sense of environmental responsibility.

Meet in the north parking lot of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, corner of DuPage and South Gifford streets in Elgin.

The cleanup will focus on collecting and properly disposing of litter and debris to create a cleaner, safer, and more aesthetically pleasing environment for all. Volunteers will be provided with necessary supplies, such as gloves, trash bags, and safety vests.

“This neighborhood spring cleanup is not just about picking up trash; it’s about fostering a sense of pride and unity within our community,” said Pat Miller, chair of the Gifford Park Association’s Historic District Committee. “By joining forces, we can make a significant impact on the appearance of our streets and public spaces, reinforcing our shared commitment to a cleaner and greener future.”

The cleanup event also will feature a post-cleanup gathering, where participants can enjoy lunch and meet their neighbors.
