Smoke but limited damage in Elgin generator fire

No one was hurt during a diesel generator fire Monday morning near a commercial building in Elgin.

The Elgin Fire Department responded to a call on the 2100 block of Point Boulevard at 7:31 a.m., where firefighters found the generator on fire inside a brick enclosure.

Three companies were able to put the fire out within 15 minutes and, though it produced a lot of smoke, damage was limited to the generator and enclosure.
