Man shoots himself after domestic-related shooting in Aurora

A man killed himself Monday after a woman was shot in a domestic disturbance in Aurora, according to police.

Aurora police say they responded at 7:31 a.m. to the 700 block of Charles Street. The caller said a man inside had a gun.

As officers arrived, they heard a gunshot, according to the report. A 43-year-old woman came out the front door. She had been shot and is hospitalized in serious condition. A man fled the scene.

Around 10:30 a.m., Grundy County sheriff’s deputies found the man’s vehicle and stopped it in the 2100 block of Cottage Road in Wilmington in Will County.

The man got out and shot himself, according to a news release from Aurora police. His identity is being withheld until his closest relatives are notified of his death, Aurora police said.

The Will County coroner will perform an autopsy on Tuesday.
