Pace Bus invites community participation in 40th anniversary celebration

Pace Suburban Bus will celebrate 40 years of service this summer, and community members are encouraged to join in the excitement.

As part of the milestone celebration, Pace will install 40 new benches at bus stops across the suburbs. Local artists, students, and organizations are needed to turn them into works of art.

“Pace is proud to serve more than 270 municipalities across Chicagoland, and we want these bus stops to be a reflection of the diverse riders, communities, employees and partners who make up the Pace family,” said Melinda Metzger, executive director, Pace. “Not only will these benches be a celebration of the rich history of Pace, but they will continue to beautify communities for years to come.”

Those who are interested in designing a bench are asked to provide two-three work samples, as well as their proposed design concept for their bench by April 15, via Pace’s submission portal. Selected artists will be notified by April 19.
