Driver taken by helicopter from scene of crash near Huntley

A driver was with life-threatening injuries was flown to a hospital by helicopter and two other people were taken to a hospital by ambulance Thursday after a head-on crash in the Huntley area.

The crash occurred just before 3:30 p.m. at the intersection of Huntley and Kreutzer roads, near the border of Kane and McHenry counties, according to the Huntley Fire Protection District. The department arrived four minutes later and extricated two people from a seriously damaged SUV within 15 minutes, the fire district said in a news release.

The driver of the SUV was flown to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, and the two others, who had moderate injuries, were taken by ambulance to Northwestern Medicine Huntley Hospital, officials said.

Gilberts police and the Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team are investigating.
