Marquee Entertainment & Hospitality Conference celebrates 40 years of House Music
The week of June 24-27, 2024, the Marquee Show will be hosting its sixth annual conference at the Crowne Plaza Chicago Rosemont Hotel and Convention Center for professional DJs and wedding/special event professionals.
There will be two tracks of education featured. One of the tracks will feature 20 seminars assisting attendees with the business side of their business such as sales, marketing, social media, blogging, etc., which is perfect for all wedding/special event vendors as well as DJs.
Presenters in this track include former VP of The Knot/Wedding Wire Alan Berg, Wedding Venue Map Owner Shannon Tarrant, Magnolia Collective Owner Meagan Culkin, former WLS morning personality Catherine Johns, Mentor Pods Owner Matt Radicelli to name a few.
The other track will focus on the art of the DJ. It will also feature 20 seminars covering music programming, mixing, scratching, remixing, editing, emceeing, setting up sound, programming lighting etc.
Presenters in this track include former MTV DJ, DJ Skribble, World DMC DJ Champion DJ QBert, Tweak Music Tips Owner DJ Cova, former B96 Mixmasters DJ Speed, DJ Flipside, and Tim Spinnin Schommer to name but a few.
It is this track that will feature our Legends of House panel seminar. During this seminar attendees will learn the history of House Music from the people who were there when it began and have been making people dance ever since. The panel will be hosted by former B96 radio personality and Mixmaster Frankie “Hollywood” Rodriguez. The panel of House experts include former B96 Mixmaster/nationally touring DJ Bad Boy Bill, legendary Hot Mix Five Founder Kenny “Jammin’” Jason, three-time Grammy-nominee DJ Terry Hunter, House Music DJ, Producer/Remixer Tyree Cooper, legendary DJ, Producer and Remixer Mike Hitman Wilson, and Chicago’s favorite House Music DJ legend Julian “Jumpin’” Perez.
In addition to the seminars, Marquee hosts a large exhibit floor that carries everything that a DJ, night club, bar, roller rink, etc. could ever need such as speakers, turntables, controllers, lighting, photo booths, music subscription services, as well as all the business tools available to help DJs and special event vendors with their business.
The Marquee Show conference will also feature three private evening parties including a 40th anniversary of House Music that will host legendary DJs and classic House Music performers at Joe’s Live in Rosemont. In addition to this party, Marquee will also be hosting its second annual Mixmaster Throwdown DJ Of the Year competition including Florida DJ Matt Dodge who will be returning to defend his 2023 Championship title.
