Three charged in connection with 2022 Palatine shooting

A 21-year-old man and a juvenile each face an attempted murder charge stemming from a 2022 shooting outside a Palatine apartment complex, police said Thursday.

Manuel Gil, of the 1000 block of East Lilac Drive in Palatine, and the juvenile were both in custody Thursday awaiting detention hearings, according to police.

Their arrests stem from an investigation launched in October 2022 after someone opened fire in the 1300 block of North Baldwin Court. No one was injured in the shooting, but a firearm was recovered, along with multiple bullet fragments and shell casings, police said.

After an “extensive investigation” by Palatine detectives, the case was brought to the Cook County state’s attorney’s office, which approved the charges, police said.

Also charged in connection with the investigation is Joe M. Zoyohua, 20, of the 3400 block of Mary Avenue in Park Ridge, police said. He faces one count of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and also is awaiting a detention hearing, according to police.
