Join a community forum with ALMAS and Indivisible Naperville April 24

On Wednesday, April 24, ALMAS and Indivisible Naperville present “Beyond Borders: A Forum on New Arrivals and Asylum-Seekers,” a community conversation to foster education, raise awareness, and facilitate open dialogue on these critical issues.

It will be 6:30 to 8 p.m. in meeting room B at the Naperville Municipal Center, 400 S. Eagle St.

The event provides a platform for a discussion among leaders and experts to address the complex challenges faced by new arrivals and asylum-seekers.

The panel is designed to enhance understanding and support within suburban settings and promote actionable solutions for attendees.

In an era of significant global movement, understanding the experiences and challenges faced by new arrivals and asylum seekers is crucial for fostering inclusive communities. AAUW Naperville Area is a sponsor for this event.

The panelists include: state Rep. Dagmara “Dee” Avelar (85th District); Andre Gordillo, director of the New Vecinos program at New Life Centers, a 501(c)3 nonprofit based in the Little Village neighborhood of Chicago; Jane Lombardi of The Resurrection Project; Wheaton City Council member Erica Bray-Parker; and attorney Donald E. Puchalski.

This event is nonpartisan, refraining from taking positions on political candidates and respecting diverse opinions.
