Men charged with vandalism in Batavia

Two men have been charged with committing at least $75,000 worth of burglaries and vandalism in Batavia.

Batavia police say they began investigating the case in March 2023. Incidents occurred between December 2022 and April 2023, at businesses and to vehicles parked at private businesses.

There was graffiti, slashed car tires, damage to the interior of buildings, activation of fire extinguishers and more, according to a police news release.

Matthew Minnec, 19, of the 1600 block of Haines Drive, Batavia, and Jackson Ledon, 20, of the 1100 block of West Wilson Street, Batavia, were each charged with four counts of felony burglary; two counts of felony criminal damage to property in excess of $10,000; four felony counts of criminal damage to property under $10,000; and three felony counts of criminal defacement of property.

The charges were filed on March 29. Their first court date is scheduled for April 24.

Police say three boys were also charged. The news release did not indicate their ages.
