Pair injured in townhouse fire near Deerfield

Two people were injured in a townhouse fire near Deerfield Thursday, according to Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Fire Protection District officials.

Firefighters were called to the residence on the 600 block of Martin Lane just before 8 p.m. for a reported kitchen fire.

One resident told firefighters another person was trapped inside, and firefighters were able to rescue both from the home.

Both residents were transported to a hospital for treatment. Their conditions are unknown.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. No damage estimate was immediately available.
