Get a free scoop, help a pet

If you love ice cream and pets, mark April 16 on your calendar.

Ben & Jerry’s Naperville Scoop Shop, 120 Water St., will offer a free scoop of ice cream from 12 to 8 p.m. For a $2 donation, your scoop can be served up in a waffle cone and your donation will benefit the Naperville Humane Society.

Free scoop day went global in 2015. In 2022, Ben & Jerry’s gave away more than 1 million scoops worldwide.

“This annual event is our way of thanking our fans for their continued support,” said Christina O’Toole, from the Naperville shop. “We are happy to help the Naperville Human Society celebrate their 45th anniversary, because we believe in supporting and helping animals find their loving forever home.”

In addition to cash donations, Ben & Jerry’s will be collecting other items for the Naperville Humane Society including Fancy Feast canned pate for kittens, non-clumping cat litter, bleach, liquid laundry soap, soft dog treats and Kitten Science Diet Chicken in dry kibble form.

Customers also can purchase $1 raffle tickets for a chance to win a raffle basket.
