DuPage opens helpline to include texting

DuPage County residents seeking health and human services assistance now can text 211 for help.

Residents can text their ZIP code to 898211. A county operator will provide referrals and assistance available near them. Texting service is available from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. Residents also can call 211 to find help 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

“By expanding the 211 helpline to include texting, we’re improving our ability to connect residents with resources and support, bridging the gap between struggle and solutions,” said DuPage County Board member Greg Schwarze, who heads the board’s human services committee.

Calls and texts to 211 are confidential.
