Buffalo Grove will make its own salt brine

Buffalo Grove will no longer have to go outside the village to get salt brine, a liquid additive used to enhance the effectiveness of road salt.

The village board Monday approved buying a salt brine maker and a truck filling station from BrineMasters LLC for about $120,000.

Buffalo Grove has been getting salt brine, which is the least expensive liquid additive, from Vernon Township and other vendors.

Increased salt brine usage will result in reduced application of road salt, village officials said.
