Community invited to ‘Experience ECC’ at April 10 event
On Wednesday, April 10, Elgin Community College is hosting its annual “Experience ECC” event from 6 to 8 p.m. in Jobe Lounge, Building B at the Spartan Drive campus, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin. This event will allow community members and prospective students to learn about ECC’s 120+ degree and certificate programs.
Attendees will connect with faculty members and explore programs, dive into tours based on their interests, and learn about getting involved on campus. Plus, get answers to their questions about admissions and financial aid.
New this year, attendees can join Parent Connection Sessions to network with other parents and explore valuable resources and information to help their scholar navigate their college journey. Sessions are offered in English and Spanish.
“The U.S. Department of Education projects that by 2027, more than 70% of jobs will require education beyond high school,” said Lauren Nehlsen, Ph.D., associate dean of recruitment, outreach, and global engagement. “ECC is dedicated to helping our community train for sought-after careers and accessing educational pathways that lead to promising futures.
“The most effective way to determine if ECC is the right fit for you is by visiting campus, engaging with faculty, and exploring our free services and resources — all of which you can experience firsthand at Experience ECC,” Nehlsen said. “Our annual open house is an invaluable opportunity for those considering ECC in the near future.”
During the event, guests can learn about some of the following:
• University transfer options — Hear from ECC’s Transfer Services Department about popular transfer programs and guided transfer pathways.
• Career-technical programs — Find a certificate program that is the right fit for your interests.
• Scholarship and financial aid applications — Explore scholarships and ways ECC helps you pay for college.
• Student life — Get connected and involved on campus through student clubs and organizations.
Registration is encouraged but not required for this free event. With limited availability for campus tours, you can reserve your spot at elgin.edu/experienceECC.
