Huntley church offers support group for those experiencing a loss

A new support group for individuals walking through the pain of loss has been established at Shepherd of the Prairie Lutheran Church, 10805 Main St. in Huntley. “Transitions: A Journey Through Loss” will informally meet every Tuesday from 7 to 8 p.m. starting April 2.

The experience of a loss takes many forms. Shepherd of the Prairie welcomes those experiencing the heartbreak of a relationship (divorce or breakup), job, loved one through death or in another way, the change of being an empty nester, the loss of health, and even the loss of a professional or personal dream.

“ Loss of any kind brings with it a sense of grief and a loss of purpose,” said Donna Kelly, director of connections ministry. “We invite you to join us at Shepherd of the Prairie and see how we can support and care for each other through our comforting group. Guests will be asked to introduce themselves, but will not be asked to talk or share their particular journey of grief.”
