Naperville Heritage Society awarded federal grant to preserve city’s history

The Naperville Heritage Society recently was awarded an $800,000 federal grant to help preserve and digitize archives, records and artifacts.

The money will be directed to The Whole History Project, which aims to make historical and cultural records related to Naperville and state history more available to the public. The project involves the creation of interactive displays and exhibits. It also will include education programs to be used by teachers and students across the state.

U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin supported the grant and the project.

“With this federal funding, we are educating Illinoisans about the rich history of Naperville and Illinois for generations to come,” Durbin said in a news release.
