College of DuPage named 2024-25 Military Friendly School

College of DuPage was recognized nationally for its support of military students, earning the 2024-25 Military Friendly School designation by VIQTORY, a service-disabled veteran-owned publication focusing on post-military education and employment.

Institutions earning the designation were evaluated using public data sources and responses from a proprietary survey. More than 1,800 schools participated in the survey with 785 colleges, universities and trade schools nationwide earning the designation.

“College of DuPage proudly supports the educational goals of our veteran students, offering them the resources they need to be successful,” said COD President Dr. Brian Caputo. “This designation is a testament to our commitment to veterans and the services available to them in reaching their educational goals.”

Understanding that the needs of men and women returning from active duty go beyond those of traditional students, COD Veterans Services manager Sheri Gross said she seeks to make the transition to college as seamless as possible.

“COD’s Veterans Services staff members provide support in various areas for veterans re-acclimating to civilian life and higher education,” she said. “Connecting them with their educational benefits and helping them locate resources puts every student on a path to success from degree competition to employment.”

The college recognizes a number of tuition-based veteran education bills, including the Montgomery G.I. Bill for Active Duty, Survivors and Dependent Educational Assistance Program and the Reserve Educational Assistance Program.

The college also accepts the Post-9/11 G.I. Bill, which provides a maximum benefit of 100% of tuition and fees, a monthly housing allowance, and a yearly book and supply stipend of up to $1,000 for qualifying veterans.
