Help your Carol Stream neighbors in need with food and supply donations through April 13

The Rotary Club of Carol Stream is collecting nonperishable food and non-food items needed by local food pantries through Friday, April 12, at a number of locations throughout the Carol Stream community as part of its annual Community-Wide Food Drive.

Among the most needed items are: condiments and cooking aids; boxes of rice; canned soups, meats and fruits; healthy cereal; powdered and evaporated milk; laundry detergent; diapers size 3-5; shampoo; soap; feminine products; and toilet paper.

In the weeks leading up to the food drive, residents can donate items to designated collections bins at the following locations:

• Carol Stream Village Hall;

• Carol Stream Park District locations;

• Community Consolidated School District 93 schools;

• Glenbard North High School;

• Carol Stream Public Library;

• And additional local community churches and businesses.

Additionally, many residents will receive donation bags on their door handles between March 30 and April 10 with instructions for making donations from home. Those who receive a bag are invited to follow the instructions to fill the bag and have it out on Saturday, April 13, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. to be picked up.

All of the items collected throughout the community will be brought to Glenbard North on Saturday, April 13, between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Donations will then be distributed to the Milton Township Food Pantry, Bloomingdale/Roselle Food Pantry, Interfaith Food Pantry, Neighborhood Food Pantry, Wayne Township Food Pantry, and Humanitarian Service Project to meet the needs of those served by these organizations.

Residents are asked to consider making donations for those in need in the community.
