Northern Illinois Food Bank receives $10K grant from Compeer Financial Fund for Rural America

Northern Illinois Food Bank recently received a $10,000 grant award from Compeer Financial’s Fund for Rural America. The awarded funds will be used to support the organization’s food distribution center improvements.

Collen Besic and Jodi D’Amico from Compeer’s Naperville office presented the funds at the check presentation event.

Compeer Financial’s Fund for Rural America, the Farm Credit cooperative’s giving program, has awarded 34 General Use Grants, totaling $190,975. These grants fund initiatives and organizations whose work enriches agriculture and rural America, aligning with Compeer Financial’s mission.

The Compeer Financial Fund for Rural America is the corporate giving program of Compeer Financial, structured to support Compeer Financial’s mission to enrich agriculture and rural America. Compeer Financial’s board of directors has dedicated 1% of annual adjusted net earnings to support the fund’s focus areas of agricultural advocacy and development, agriculture education, cooperative initiatives, rural development and community enrichment, and youth engagement.

“The fund is proud to provide support to the communities in which our team members live and work,” said Karen Schieler, senior corporate giving specialist at Compeer Financial. “The General Use Grants directly contribute to the health and vibrancy of rural America. These innovative ideas and work make a lasting difference.”

“Northern Illinois Food Bank network serves over 500,000 neighbor a month throughout 13 counties in rural and suburban Northern Illinois, thanks to the support of partners like Compeer Financial,” said Maeven Sipes, chief philanthropy officer at Northern Illinois Food Bank. “The grant will help us continue to provide neighbors experiencing food-insecurity access to the nutritious and healthy food they need to thrive.”
