Patron stole $700 in chips at Rivers Casino, police say

A Chicago man was arrested Saturday after he repeatedly stole gambling chips off tables inside Rivers Casino in Des Plaines, police said.

Abdul Barr, 44, of the 2800 block of West Washington Boulevard, is charged with theft and criminal trespass to property.

Barr stole a $500 chip out of the dealer’s box on a blackjack table, police said in a news release.

He left the casino and drove off before officers arrived, then returned to Rivers, and stole $200 in chips off a table and cashed them in, according to police. Barr agreed to return that money but was charged for the first theft, police said.
