Skyview: Lunar landscape or Hanover Park community center?

One might think they are viewing a small part of a lunar landscape or something out of a science fiction movie looking straight down at part of the Hanover Park Park District Community Center building.

Drone pictures like this one taken directly above something often gives the viewer a unique perspective and this image doesn’t disappoint.

The park district asked voters on March 19 to approve a tax hike for the first time in its 60-year history to replace the original 48-year-old fabric roofs over two wings of its Community Center.

The aging fabric roofs cover 65,600 square feet over the southeast and southwest wings of the community center.

The material used would not only be new, but also better than that which was used when the building opened in 1976.

The proposed project doesn’t involve the large inflatable structure at the front of the complex.
