Family festival celebrates Week of the Young Child

District 214 Community Education will kick off its celebration of the Week of the Young Child with a family festival on Thursday, April 4, from 6-7:30 p.m. at Forest View Educational Center, 2121 S. Goebbert Road, in Arlington Heights. Families can enter the center at Door 34.

The festival is geared toward families with children aged five and younger. The event is free and will offer activities and games, plus information about community resources — with more than 30 local organizations participating. Musical entertainment will be provided by bilingual artists Mi Amigo Hamlet and Alina Celeste, and is being made possible by a grant to STAR NET Region II by the TJ Maxx Foundation.

The 2024 Week of the Young Child will be celebrated nationally from April 6-12 by the National Association for the Education of Young Children.

The festival is sponsored by the Early Childhood Block Grant programs serving Palatine and Wheeling Townships, and by District 214 Community Education.
